Dorothy Randall Tsuruta Joins the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Advisory Board

Dorothy Randall Tsuruta holds a PhD from Stanford University with a double concentration in English and English Education; MA San Francisco State University, English Education; BA San Francisco State University, English Major, History Minor. Dr. Tsuruta is a full professor at San Francisco State University, in the Department of Africana Studies and was four times elected to department chair (2014-16) until returning to full time teaching and working on her scholarly and creative writing. A recent article ”Ted Joans: Black and Beat of a Time and Kind,” has been accepted for an upcoming Modern Language Association (MLA) anthology publication on writers of the Beat Generation. Her Works in-progress include: A Black Canon: Rev. Elmer McLaughlin 1897—1994 (biography); Leela Morrow Imamura (novel); and From Womanish to Womanism (textbook). She is a literary scholar and author of published works, and she presents at major academic conferences-- pertinent here, she presented at the International Journal of Arts and Sciences conference in 2015 in Paris, France; and at the International Journal of Arts and Sciences 2018, in Granada, Spain. She and her husband live in San Francisco, they have 4 young adult children.
