Pam Parker Joins The Learner Advisory Board

Pam is a Professor of Educational Development at City, University of London. Pam started her career as a nurse before moving into academia as a nurse teacher having always been involved in teaching and mentoring both students and other staff. Pam has many years’ experience of staff development activities focused on supporting staff to provide high quality education using contemporary pedagogical approaches. Pam’s current role is Deputy Director of the Department for Learning Enhancement and Development which plans, develops and provides staff development and consultancy for enhancing learning and teaching across the University. Pam is the programme director for the MA Academic Practice programme which enables staff and PhD students to undertake a postgraduate certificate, diploma or master’s degree as appropriate to their role. There are range of other academic activities Pam oversees which include the HEA accredited CPD route for four categories of fellowship, the National Teaching Fellowship development programme and the annual learning and teaching conference.
Pam is also the programme director of the Department’s MPhil/PhD in professional education programme and she has experience of supervising students undertaking research from first degree to PhD level. Pam engages in a range of research projects across the institution which, include assessment and feedback practice, professional development activities for staff and educational leadership. Pam has presented her work regularly at a range of conferences both nationally and internationally and published in peer review journals. Pam is a National Teaching Fellow, an HEA Principal Fellow and a Senior Fellow of SEDA.
