Richard Lachman

Dr. Richard Lachman is a Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University’s RTA School of Media, and serves as Academic Director of TMU’s University’s Zone Learning incubator network. A Gemini and CNMA award winner, Lachman is the author most recently of Digital Wisdom: Searching for Agency in the Age of AI. He earned his doctorate from UNE, studied Computer Science at MIT, and completed a Master’s at the MIT Media Lab. Mattel acquired a startup where he ended as a lead designer and lead developer of the Petz software, which shipped over three million units. His research explores technology ethics, creative AI, transmedia storytelling, mixed realities, digital documentaries, and design thinking.
