Soraya Barreto Januário
Associate Professor and Researcher in the Department of Communication and the Graduate Program in Communication (PPGCOM) at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). She served as a Visiting Professor and completed a Postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies (IGSF) at McGill University, Montreal, Canada (2019–2020). She holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2013), where she was a fellow of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) of the Portuguese Ministry of Education and a researcher at the Center for Communication and Language Studies (2006–2013). She also earned her Master’s degree in Communication Sciences from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2009), with research focused on Gender, Feminisms, Masculinities, Consumption, Sports, and Communication.
She is the Leader of the CNPq Research Groups Obmidia (Media Observatory: Gender, Democracy, and Human Rights) and FEGECCAP(Center for Critical Studies on Feminisms, Gender, Consumption, and Capitalism). Additionally, she is a researcher for the Northeastern Network for Media and Sports Studies (ReNEme), President of the Network of Women Football Researchers, an advisory board member for the Women's Football Observatory, and a researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) for Football. She is a recipient of the CNPq Research Productivity Fellowship - Level C.
Professora associada e investigadora no Departamento de Comunicação da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação - PPGCOM/UFPE. Foi Professora Visitante e fez o estágio de Pós-doutorado no Institute for Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies (IGSF), Montreal Canadá (2019-2020). Doutora em Ciências da Comunicação pela Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2013), bolsista pela Fundação de Ciência e Tecnologia do Ministério da Educação de Portugal, foi investigadora do Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Linguagem da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2006-2013). Mestra em Ciências da Comunicação pela Universidade Nova de Lisboa(2009), com pesquisas relacionadas ao Gênero, Feminismos, Masculinidades, Consumo, Esportes e Comunicação.
Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa do CNPq Observatório de Mídia: Gênero, Democracia e Direitos Humanos e Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa CNPq FEGECCAP - Núcleo de Estudos Críticos de Feminismos, Gênero, Consumo e Capitalismo. Pesquisadora da Rede Nordestina de Estudos em Mídia e Esporte (ReNEme). Presidenta da Rede de Mulheres Pesquisadoras de Futebol. Conselheira consultiva do Observatório do Futebol Feminino. Pesquisadora do INCT Futebol. Bolsista de Produtividade em Pesquisa do CNPq, nível C.
