Hai Luo

Dr. Luo’s research and publications encompass diverse areas, including global Indigenous aging, cross-cultural aging, mental health and substance use among older adults, long-term care, gambling in later life, elder abuse, social capital in aging populations, and social work leadership. She serves as a principal investigator or co-investigator on numerous projects funded by national, international, and local agencies.

Dr. Luo is actively engaged in gerontological education, research training, mentoring graduate students, and developing international collaborations with partners in Finland, Taiwan, and China. She co-founded and facilitates a regional Gerontological Social Work Group (GSWG) and the International Network for Indigenous Aging (INIA). Currently, she is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Social Work and Chair of the Human Research Ethics Board at the University of Manitoba.
