We are pleased to announce that Joseluis Samaniego will be speaking at the Sixteenth International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic & Social Sustainability.
Joseluis Samaniego is director of the Human Settlements and Sustainable Development Division of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC/CEPAL). He has been head of this division since 2004 and has the role of developing and assessing policy in the region in the areas of climate change, urban development, and more inclusive economic development with a limited environmental footprint. He is an economist by training, from the UNAM in Mexico City, and has a masters in international economic policy. Prior to leading a division in CEPAL, he worked in the public sector in Mexico as coordinator of International Relations of the Secretariat for Environment, Natural Resources and Fisheries (1994-2000). He has extensive experience of participation in international negotiations, from climate change in Kyoto to urban policy in Quito.
