Conference Opening Tour: Discover the Origins Centre - 20 January 2027

The International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic, and Social Sustainability is pleased to announce the Conference Opening Tour.

Begin your conference experience with a fascinating journey into Africa’s rich cultural heritage at the Origins Centre, located at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Discover the story of human origins, ancient technologies, and the artistic and spiritual traditions of southern Africa through an extraordinary collection of rock art, fossils, archaeological artefacts, and interactive exhibitions. This visit offers a unique opportunity to explore the connections between humanity, culture, and our shared heritage.

Following the visit, the conference will officially begin at the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at Wits University.

Conference Welcome Reception - 20 January 2027

The International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic, and Social Sustainability is pleased to announce the Conference Welcome Reception.

Common Ground Research Networks and the 23rd International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic & Social Sustainability will be hosting a Welcome Reception at the conference venue, immediately following the opening plenary session.

All participants are invited to enjoy complimentary food and drinks in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet fellow delegates, exchange ideas, and establish new connections.

Conference Dinner at Epicure Restaurant - 21 January 2027

The International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic, and Social Sustainability is pleased to announce the Conference Dinner.

Located in the heart of Rosebank, Epicure Restaurant combines exquisite décor, excellent service, and high-quality cuisine, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a selection of African street food flavours. The menus change according to the chef’s inspiration, but consistently showcase the flavours and ingredients of the region and its culinary traditions. Coconut-basted crabs pay homage to the wonders of West African seafood. Slow-cooked Nguni oxtail represents the tradition and luxury of Southern African cuisine. The magnificent mabele (sorghum), served with wild mushrooms, also caters to vegan, low-GI, and gluten-intolerant diners, ensuring that everyone can take part in this gastronomic journey.

Online Welcome and Training Session

Join other delegates for a pre-conference welcome reception and training session. This special event will walk you through the CGScholar Event (KX) so you have a rich online experience by learning how to comment and participate online. It will also teach delegates how to update their profile and Presenter Pages in order to add digital media: video, sound, and other files.

Online Talking Circle

Talking Circles are a distinctive feature of our in-person conference, and this year we are also taking them online. Talking Circles offer an opportunity to meet other delegates face-to-face, and engage in extended discussion about the issues and concerns they feel are of utmost importance to that segment of the Research Network. Participation is open, encouraged, and supported.
