Social Events

Social events sit alongside the formal program and give the conference its more informal rhythm. They provide time and space for delegates to slow down, meet one another, and continue conversations that begin in sessions or Talking Circles.

In-Person: For delegates at the venue, special events are shaped each year by the host institution and local context. They may include opportunities to gather socially, encounter local sites or practices, and extend discussions in a more relaxed setting. Details for each conference are announced with the program.

Online: For delegates participating at a distance, special events are offered in an online format. These are designed to recreate some of the ease of hallway conversation—structured opportunities to meet, talk, and situate your work within the wider conference community. Specific activities and times are shared through the Event (KX) space as the program is confirmed.

In-Person Special Events

We are currently working on crafting this year's in-person special events.

Online Social Events

Online Welcome and Training Session

Join other delegates for a pre-conference welcome reception and training session. This special event will walk you through the CGScholar Event (KX) so you have a rich online experience by learning how to comment and participate online. It will also teach delegates how to update their profile and Presenter Pages in order to add digital media: video, sound, and other files.

Online Talking Circle

Talking Circles are a distinctive feature of our in-person conference, and this year we are also taking them online. Talking Circles offer an opportunity to meet other delegates face-to-face, and engage in extended discussion about the issues and concerns they feel are of utmost importance to that segment of the Research Network. Participation is open, encouraged, and supported.
