Dorota Koczanowicz
Dorota Koczanowicz is Associate Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Wrocław, where she chairs the Scientific Council for Culture and Religion Studies. She is also a member of the Committee for Cultural Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Her research draws on pragmatist aesthetics, particularly somaesthetics, and engages with food studies, contemporary art, and environmental humanities, with a particular focus on taste, embodiment, and ecological responsibility. She is the author of numerous books and articles on aesthetics, gender, contemporary art, food culture, and the climate crisis.
She has held research fellowships and visiting appointments at the Wittgenstein Archives in Bergen, the John F. Kennedy Institute in Berlin, New York University, and the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo. In 2024/25, she was a visitor at the School of Social Science, Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
Her most recent book, "Aesthetics of Taste: Eating within the Realm of Art" (Brill, 2023), explores the intersections of food, art, and aesthetic experience.
