Chapter 1: Introduction to Nature-centered Leadership
Each of us has the potential to influence others in some way, and in so doing we are leaders. This book is for those who aspire to reflect on their relationship with Nature while influencing others to do the same. Nature-centered leadership is not a category of leadership style per se; it is a process to be understood and expressed as an aspirational narrative of hope for a more sustainable future (This narrative will unfold in Chapter Six.). It is through this process of reflection and dialogue that we become Nature-centered leaders and gauge our every action with a Nature-centered perspective. Our efforts are amplified when we influence others to do the same. We can be most effective in organizations when we encourage others to view Nature as a stakeholder and worthy of our consideration while striving to achieve the organization’s mission and vision for the future.
