Ricardo Bustos

Dr. Ricardo Bustos received his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Chile in 1998 and his PhD in Engineering Sciences from the University of Concepción in 2008. He has worked on various scientific projects, becoming the engineer in charge of the CBI Radio Telescope in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. In 2008, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Miami, followed by a postdoctoral position at the University of Concepción. He also served as an Associate Engineer at the Cerro Calán Observatory of the University of Chile.

In 2013, he joined the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (UCSC) as a faculty member. There, he established the Astro-Engineering and Microwave Laboratory and has served as Principal Investigator on more than a dozen externally funded scientific projects. He leads projects such as the UCSC MIST Radio Telescope and sky-quality studies for radio astronomy observations in the Llano de Chajnantor. He currently also serves as Director of the PhD Program in Artificial Intelligence, a joint program involving four universities in the city of Concepción.
