Despina Karakatsani
Despina Karakatsani studied History at the University of Athens (1989) and continued her studies in France. She took one DEA in Didactics of History and Geography from the University of Paris 7-Jussieu and one DEA in Sciences of Education from the University Paris 8-Vincennes. She obtained a PhD in Sciences of Education from the University of Paris 8-Saint Denis in 1998. She has taught at the University of Crete (1998-2004) and at the University of Democritus in Thrace (1998-1999). Since 2004 she has taught at the Faculty of Social and Education Policy of the University of the Peloponnese and since 2006 at the Open University of Athens. In 2015 she was elected Professor in Sciences of Education at the Department of Social and Education Policy of the University of the Peloponnese. She has published several articles in Greek and international journals, and she participates in several European projects in cooperation with DARE (Democracy and Human Rights Education), CiCe (Children’s’ Identity and Citizenship in Europe), and NECE (Networking European Citizenship Education). She is part of the management committee of the project HIDDEN- History of Identity Documentation in European Nations: Citizenship, Nationality, and Migration of COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) and Vice-President of DARE Network -Democracy and Human Rights Education in Europe. Her research interests include the history of child welfare and child protection, social and political education-citizenship education, multicultural education, history of pedagogical ideas (institutional pedagogy and Freinet pedagogy) and alternative educational methods.
Η Δέσποινα Καρακατσάνη σπούδασε Ιστορία στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (1989) και συνέχισε τις σπουδές της στη Γαλλία. Απέκτησε δύο Διδακτορικά Διπλώματα Ειδίκευσης (DEA): α) στη Διδακτική της Ιστορίας και της Γεωγραφίας από το Πανεπιστήμιο Paris 7-Jussieu και β) στις Επιστήμες της Εκπαίδευσης από το Πανεπιστήμιο Paris 8-Vincennes. Έλαβε διδακτορικό τίτλο (PhD) στις Επιστήμες της Εκπαίδευσης από το Πανεπιστήμιο Paris 8-Saint Denis το 1998. Δίδαξε στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης (1998-2004) και στο Δημοκρίτειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θράκης (1998-1999). Από το 2004 διδάσκει στο Τμήμα Κοινωνικής και Εκπαιδευτικής Πολιτικής του Πανεπιστημίου Πελοποννήσου και από το 2006 στο Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο. Το 2015 εκλέχθηκε Καθηγήτρια στις Επιστήμες της Εκπαίδευσης στο Τμήμα Κοινωνικής και Εκπαιδευτικής Πολιτικής του Πανεπιστημίου Πελοποννήσου. Έχει δημοσιεύσει αρκετά άρθρα σε ελληνικά και ξένα περιοδικά και συμμετέχει σε διάφορα ευρωπαϊκά έργα σε συνεργασία με τα δίκτυα DARE (Democracy and Human Rights Education), CiCe (Children’s Identity and Citizenship in Europe) και NECE (Networking European Citizenship Education). Είναι μέλος της επιτροπήςδιαχείρισης του έργου HIDDEN – History of Identity Documentation in European Nations: Citizenship, Nationality, and Migration του COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) και Αντιπρόεδρος του ΔικτύουDARE - Democracy and Human Rights Education in Europe. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν την ιστορία της κοινωνικής πρόνοιας και προστασίας του παιδιού, την κοινωνική και πολιτική αγωγή-εκπαίδευση στην ιδιότητα του πολίτη, τη διαπολιτισμική εκπαίδευση, την ιστορία των παιδαγωγικών ιδεών (θεσμική παιδαγωγική και παιδαγωγική Freinet) και τις εναλλακτικές εκπαιδευτικές μεθόδους.
