Yannis Mastrogeorgiou currently serves as the Special Secretary for Strategic Foresight at the Presidency of the Government of the Hellenic Republic. He also coordinated the High-Level Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence.
Yannis has spent years at the intersection of politics, innovative policy research, and strategic communications. He previously served as Secretary General for Media and Communications at the Presidency of the Government, Director of the Scientific Council at the Constantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy, and Executive Director of DIKTIO – Network for Reform in Greece and Europe. At DIKTIO, a leading Athens-based think tank, he played a central role in shaping Greek public discourse on artificial intelligence and its socioeconomic implications.
Earlier in his career, Yannis held various advisory roles within the Greek government, including Director of Communications and Special Adviser to the Minister at the Ministry of Development, Competitiveness and Shipping, and the Ministry of Education. He also served as an adviser to the Hellenic Parliament.
Before entering public service, he worked as an advisor and account manager at multinational communications firms, managing key international clients.
Yannis studied at the University of Athens, the Athens University of Economics and Business, and the University of the Aegean, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in History, International Affairs, and European Law. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Athens.
In 2012, he was named a Marshall Memorial Fellow.
