Aitor Acilu is an architect (2010) and Doctor cum laude (2015) from the University of Navarra, with Extraordinary Award and Arquia Finalist. He is a professor and head of the Service Design area in the Design Degree at the University of Navarra, a role he combines with his professional practice. Aitor is co-founder and director of guk.studio, a design office aimed at contributing research and innovation in the field of organizations, social projects, and addressing current challenges with a clear commitment to human development (Human-Centered Design). Through his teaching, research, and professional experience, he has contributed, among others, to the educational innovation project Pre(ad)dictions: creating a caring campus for addiction prevention, and to the participatory project for the Provincial Council of Álava, Nagusilab: a city for caring for aging. Currently, he is part of the European Research Project Erasmus+ Cook 2DIAbeat Healthier Eating for Type 2 Diabetes, and collaborates in supervising doctoral theses and research lines addressing new nurse profiles and their experience.
He has supervised various service design final degree projects that have improved services at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. He has participated in conferences, published and presented articles in journals and conferences, and given lectures and workshops at national and international levels. Aitor has served as a member of the jury for Deusto BBVA MAKING CITIES 2030 in its 2020, 2022, and 2024 editions.
