Javier Antón graduated in Architecture in 2006 and earned his PhD from the University of Navarra in 2016. During his doctoral studies, he moved to the United States to further his education at Columbia University, where he completed a Master's in Curatorial Studies in 2014 and taught some classes as the Dean's TA. After finishing his master's, he was hired by Columbia as a publication’s coordinator for a year. Upon returning to Spain, during the 2015/2016 academic year, he played a pivotal role in launching a new Degree in Design at the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and has since been responsible for international relations.
He is currently a professor and deputy director in the Department of Theory, Projects, and Urbanism at the same school. His research and teaching focus on the intersection of art curation and architecture, service design, spatial narrative, and design pedagogy. Javier has been recognized for his commitment to the evolution of education and curation. This has been reflected in his work for the CCCP Venice Observatory at the 2014 Venice Biennale, his role as an instructor at the 2016 Summer School at the Architectural Association, and his numerous curatorial projects in cities like New York, London, Istanbul, Venice, and Madrid. He has published extensively on the interaction between art and space and has led significant research projects in Service Design in the Hospitality and Health sectors, enhancing service quality through employee development.
